How Much Will I Receive?

.
In January, Governor Spitzer proposed eliminating the school property tax rebate check program that saved Long Island homeowners more than $200 million last year.
Governor Spitzer’s plan included unfair income limits that discriminated against Long Island families and, according to the Long Island Association, the Governor’s proposal would result in higher residential and commercial property taxes and “a significant percentage of residential taxpayers…[will be] likely to lose money as a result of [the Governor’s] proposal.”
Senator Skelos led the fight to defeat the Governor’s plan to eliminate the rebate check program and dramatically increase the income eligibility thresholds--providing more property tax relief to more Long Island homeowners. As a result, 94% of Long Island homeowners will receive larger checks than last year.
